Banyan Profile

Indian Ranking: In the Carbon constrained world, Corporations & governments in the 55 countries, that signed Kyoto Protocol, are legally bound to reduce emissions of Green House Gases (GHGs). To fulfill Kyoto commitments a total of 5000 million Tonnes of CO2e need to be mitigated & may be traded on Carbon Exchanges by 2012. With availability of a large pool of English speaking professionals from Environmental Engineering, International Law, Finance, Entrepreneurial skills & growing economy, India is likely to lead in the GHG reduction. India has already received a highest rating from CDM project perspective by CRISIL at BBB ahead of all other CDM contenders like Brasil (BB+), Russia & China (BB). An estimated ~1500 million tonnes of CO2e reduction may come from India. Thus India represents a big source of Certified Emission Reduction-CERs & as well as a market for Carbon Services.
