Banyan Business

Banyan Business Segments: Identifying & quantifying CDM opportunities in priority segments, educating, reaching out & networking with large emitters, technology providers, financers & CDM services providers, creating practical Business Plans for CDM projects, has been the key focus for Banyan. Multi million CER Projects where mitigation costs are significantly lower than Carbon Income, with the exception of Biomass are the focus of Banyan. Revised IPCC ( Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change) guidelines 1996, project specific software & research has helped us make realistic estimates of the expected CERs from a segment & project.

To prove environmental & financial additionality, detailed financial analysis has been completed in Banyan Priority sectors of

1. Urban Infrastructure: Methane mitigation from Land Fills, Composting MSW-Municipal Solid Waste to avoid potential Methane Emissions etc. fall in to this category. 15-17 million CERs planned.
2. Green Power: All renewable sources of Energy like Biomass, Wind, Solar, Natural Gas based power sources & Energy Efficiency improvements. >5 million CERs planned from Biomass alone.
3. Agricultural Innovations: Methane & Nitrous Oxide from enteric fermentation, agriculture including Animal Waste Management Systems. 25-30 million CERs planned.
4. Project & Carbon Services: Providing GHG mitigation project & CDM services to clients & associates in India & Rest of the world. Carbon services for large projects to Corporate Houses & Large Government Sector GHG emitters are being offered by Banyan on Project by Project basis with Mitsubishi Securities ( now MUFJ Securities, Tokyo Japan ) for Fertilizer & Aluminum Sectors.

Banyan Profile

Indian Ranking: In the Carbon constrained world, Corporations & governments in the 55 countries, that signed Kyoto Protocol, are legally bound to reduce emissions of Green House Gases (GHGs). To fulfill Kyoto commitments a total of 5000 million Tonnes of CO2e need to be mitigated & may be traded on Carbon Exchanges by 2012. With availability of a large pool of English speaking professionals from Environmental Engineering, International Law, Finance, Entrepreneurial skills & growing economy, India is likely to lead in the GHG reduction. India has already received a highest rating from CDM project perspective by CRISIL at BBB ahead of all other CDM contenders like Brasil (BB+), Russia & China (BB). An estimated ~1500 million tonnes of CO2e reduction may come from India. Thus India represents a big source of Certified Emission Reduction-CERs & as well as a market for Carbon Services.
